About the Instructor
Maddy Reitz
Hi! I’m Maddy. I live in Monroe with my husband, our dog and cat. I went to school for Early Childhood Education and graduated with my Bachelor’s in 2019. I taught immediately after graduation till about the end 2022 when I was being pulled away from teaching for a bigger cause. I created Empowered Early Learning (EEL) to help stay at home parents and families curious about homeschooling start in those early years. I focus on play based, developmentally appropriate activities, and process over product. My teaching philosophy has always been “the messier the room or the child, the more fun they had, and in turn the more they learned”

Monthly Early Learning Classes
This class can hold up to 15 students! We will have stations set up, with lots of room for kids to take turns and play together.
If you are a parent interested in homeschooling, we hope this class empowers you to start thinking about how educating your child at home can be simple, fun, and enjoyable. These classes are meant to be hands on fun for students, introducing concepts that build as your child grows into a reader, writer, and mathematician! A lot of it looks like play, and thats because early learning IS a LOT of play! But that play has a purpose. Enjoy meeting other parents in the same stage as you, let your kiddos make new friends, and feel encouraged that you are doing enough.
If your kiddo likes to play, this is for them! If your child is learning about numbers, letters, seasons, writing, and needs practice, experience, and to experiment with all those new skills and concepts, this is for them!
No, this is a parent child class! Hang out with your kiddo as they work through the play stations, observing, encaging and encouraging. These classes are about the PROCESS not the product, so avoid jumping in and doing things for them, let them engage with the materials in a way that is meaningful for them.
We want all students to be able to learn with us. If your student needs additional support to participate in a general-ed classroom setting, please reach out to us before you register. We believe the best accommodations happen when we work as a team. It’s important for us to partner with families to understand your student’s needs and what strategies already work well at home. Together, we can explore options and make adjustments where possible to help set your student up for success. That said, accommodations depend on the time, experience, and resources we have available. While we’re committed to doing what we reasonably can, there may be situations where the level of support required is beyond what we can provide in this setting.
